Election 2012: perspectives from the cat

It's an election year and I live in a house divided. My problem is the dog. We don't see eye to eye - literally as well as figuratively. Despite my petite and demure feline stature, I'm proud to say I most often look down on him from my imposing and influential perch on the TV stand. The same can be said for politics; I look down on his views from my elevated position on the correct side of right.

Some spots as low as 15 degrees

Weather column: Light snow fell across parts of Minnesota Saturday night into Sunday. Temperatures were cool on Sunday once that system pushed through the area. Some spots fell into the mid teens for lows Sunday morning across northern Minnesota.

International Falls, Warroad, Baudette, and Grand Marais all dipped to 15 degrees for the morning lows Sunday morning.

Meth lab found; someone's stealing boat fuel tanks; local crime blotters



Portable meth lab found

Tuesday Oct. 23, at 11:43 a.m., the Meeker County Sheriff's Office took a report of a suspicious package located in a culvert along County Road 11, just east of Grove City. A deputy responded and discovered a duffel bag containing items consistent with that of a portable meth lab. The duffel bag appears to have been at this location for many months. Because of the state and age of the various materials and chemicals involved with this discovery, the Minnesota Duty Officer with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was contacted as well as a Certified Clean up Company to properly dispose of this meth lab and waste.
