Third annual EVW 5K walk/run May 8

The third annual EV-W 5K walk/run took place Wednesday, May 8. Some ran, some walked, some biked, at least one roller-bladed, and one girl kneeled (with her leg in a cast) on a scooter. They all started from the Eden Valley Elementary School, and ended at Assumption Church where cold water and granola bars awaited them. The annual event is just a part of the Eden Valley-Watkins Schools participation in the Meeker County SHIP program (Statewide Health Improvement Program). This is the same program responsible for tobacco-free school zones, and for efforts to get more local and healthy food into school lunches. SHIP coordinator Pam Bagley says EV-W is a great school to work with, and the 5K is a success because of staff involvement and community support, adding that setting up the 5K now is like a “well-oiled machine.”W-IMG 5233
