Teachers honored at LEEA banquet

Wednesday, Oct. 30, area teachers were honored for their accomplishments at the River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud. Two teachers from Eden Valley-Watkins School District and two teachers from the Kimball Area Schools were selected to be recognized. More than 475 people attended the event to honor 151 educators with a plaque and certificate from Governor Mark Dayton. This banquet marked the 22nd anniversary of the Leaders in Educational Excellence Awards (LEEA) event.

Being honored from the Eden Valley-Watkins School District were Rebecca Kuechle, secondary special education teacher, and Karen Svihel-Buermann who teaches first grade. Superintendent Mark Messman was also there in support of the honors.

Chosen to receive honors from the Kimball teaching staff were Mrs. Kathryn Winkelman, who teaches FACS, Family and Consumer Science, and Andrea Welter, second-grade teacher at Kimball Elementary School. Jim Houseman, KES principal also attended the ceremony.W-Eden-Valley
