Santa was very busy this past weekend, and the jolly guy has a few more local stops before he heads back to the North Pole to make final preparations for Christmas.
Saturday, Dec. 7, he met with lots of good boys and girls at Eden Valley-Watkins High School. The youngest was probably Knisley Bischof (8 weeks) who came with her sister Kynlee (22 mos.); their parents are Chris and Amy Bischof of Eden Valley. There were hotdogs and chips, and lots of activities like cookie decorating. The event was sponsored by Community Ed., and Tri-M students helped with projects, and Kaitlyn Gruber and Dyani Acosts were Santa’s elves. Because of the cold, the horse-drawn trolley was cancelled.
He paid a visit to Heritage House in Kimball to hand out gifts to residents. Residents and their families enjoyed lunch and treats, too. Here, too, the horse-drawn trolley was cancelled this year.
Santa and Mrs. Claus spent time at both Minnesota Pioneer Park in Annandale and Forest City Stockade. The historical sites were beautiful in the snow this year, but bitterly cold. Both had horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Sunday, Dec. 8, Santa was there to hang out with the Fair Haven Lions at the Schindele Elk Ranch in Clearwater. Kids and their parents came out to enjoy hotdogs and some chilly treats and hot beverages, and some braved the horse-drawn sleigh ride.
Santa also visited the Kingston Community Center Sunday. He hadn’t made such an early stop in Kingston in a few years, so it was good to see him back again this year.
This weekend, Santa will visit Kimball City Hall from 10 a.m.-noon.
At Watkins Village Hall, Santa’s Workshop (gift sale) begins at 9 a.m.. The play, “Disorder in the Court” will begin at 1 p.m., and Santa will visit following the play.
Of course, Santa will ride CP Rail’s Holiday Train Sunday evening when it stops in Annandale and Kimball, and passes through Eden Valley. Railroad employees donate so that checks can be donated to local food shelves along the Holiday Train route. (See ad on page 8 for community events scheduled for Dec. 15.)

Dec. 7, at the high school. Mrs. Claus was there to hand out the treats.
