Volleyball Eagles suffer a woeful week

The Eden Valley-Watkins volleyball team fell short in the final full week of the regular season. Traveling to Osakis on Tuesday, Oct. 8, the Eagles W-EVW-vs-Cubs-VB-4were defeated in the non-conference clash, 3-0 (4-25, 15-25, and 14-25). Thursday, Oct. 10, EV-W hosted the Kimball Cubs and lost a hard-fought affair, 3-0 (23-25, 19-25, and 20-25).


Gabrelcik honored

Kevon Gabrelcik (center) was honored as 2012-13 Volunteer of the Year in the Central Minnesota Conference in a brief ceremony at EV-W’s home football opener Friday, Sept. 20. Cross country runners look good as season-end looms

It was a beautiful day on Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Albany, as the Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball runners stretched their legs for a good run. EV-W-K took eighth place and W-K-EV-W-CC-DSC04388they were led by Emily Donnay, who finished second with a time of 15.59.


EV-W wins Rooster Bowl, again

Eden Valley-Watkins defeated friendly foe Kimball last Friday night, October 11, comfortably in its own nest, 20-6.  Putting up 20 in the first three quarters, the Eagles surrendered just 6 points to the Cubs, in the final stanza.  The Eagles were flying all over the place, as Deshaun James ran for 78 yards, quarterback Nick Pauly tossed for 124 yards, and Austin Schlangen recovered a blocked punt in the bad guys’ end zone.  The Eagles’ record now stands at 2-5.  Closing out the regular season on Wednesday, October 16, EV-W W-EVW-vs-Cubs-FB-6hosts a tough (5-1) Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa bunch, in a Central Minnesota battle.

EV-W volleyball team loses tough match to Lakers

In a battle that could have gone either way, the Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles lost a tough one Thursday, Oct. 3, at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, and 28-26). Following the loss, EV-W now stands at 2-3 in the conference and 8-13 overall. Schedule remaining before playoffs begin: Tuesday, Oct. 8, 6 p.m., at Osakis; Thursday, Oct. 10, 5:45 p.m., v. Kimball; and Tuesday, Oct. 15, 5:45 p.m. v. BBE.
