One of the great things about kindergarten is learning to read! We will learn 40 sight words this year, as well as sounding out words we don't know. In math, we work on numbers to 100, telling time, and naming coins and their values.
Most of all, we learn and practice how to be caring and sharing people.
As part of their required activities, these Eden Valley-Watkins Cub Scouts met with the Tri-County News/Eden Valley-Watkins News in Eden Valley. The eight boys learned, for example, that it is a mixture of four ink colors (cyan/turquoise blue, magenta/ pink, yellow, and black) that makes a full-color page like this one. Each of the eight boys had already seen themselves in the Tri-County News/Eden Valley-Watkins News. They were very excited to know they would be again this week. Pictured are, back row, left to right, Josiah Kallebig, Cody Becker, Hunter Pitts, and Riley Lang; front row, Braden Raddatz, Daniel Heuring, and Thomas Lemke. “Thanks” to the boys for letting us share with them, and to troop leader Laura Becker for inviting us! A Honor Roll
Congratulations to the following EV-W Speech Team members for their performances at the Section Speech Tournament Saturday, April 13, at New London-Spicer:
• Eighth place – Meredith
Gruenes in Original Oratory and Tyler Swafford in Discussion;
This year we have been learning and doing many different things in our classroom. One of the most important is learning how to read.
We are now able to put sounds together to make words. It also has been fun learning how to add and subtract numbers. We have had some special days in our classroom by going on a pirate hunt to find treasures, making gingerbread houses, and we evenjoyed eating octopus stew. Right now we are busy preparing for our spring concert that will be on Monday, may 6, at 7 p.m. in the Watkins Elementary School.
