Kimball Speech: Four advance

Kimball Speechers had a good Saturday, April 13. With a narrow window of good (although not quite springy) weather, the Section

5A tournament went off with nary a hitch. And for Kimball speechers, it went … well, GREAT!

To begin with, the team placed third out of 20 competing teams, only 2 points out of a runner-up trophy, which Sauk Centre took home. This is the highest sections placing Kimball has had in many years. St. Cloud Cathedral are the 2013 5A Section Champions. Team points at sections are counted only for those competing in finals.

Out of 16 students competing, eight were cleared to the final round. To move forward to state, students must place in the top 3 speakers.

Here are the results from finals:

Alex Harter and Blake Fox: Sixth, Duo Interpretation

Megan Bisila: Fifth, Informative Speaking

Danielle Helgeson: Fifth, Serious Interpretation of Prose

Jonathan Bisila: Fourth, Great Speeches

Katelyn Lichte: Fourth, Extemporaneous Speaking (Katelyn advanced to state last year)

And … your state qualifying Kimball Speechers are:

Camen Miles: Third, Creative Expression (Camen advanced to state last year)

Olivia Straley: Third, Storytelling

AND we have two Section 5A Champions:

Alissa Jones: Extemporaneous Reading (Alissa has placed fourth twice before in this category)

Logan Bartholomew: Serious Interpretation of Drama

And for their coach … she was selected by Section 5A head coaches as Section 5A Coach of the Year

Thanks for all your support and please send your good wishes to all these talented kids. They will compete at State Saturday, April 21, at Blaine High School.

Send off information will be determined soon.W-IMG 5710
