Winter Weather and School Closings
We can safely say the region has experienced some unusual winter weather with recent cold snaps, freezing rain, and snowstorms. I can tell you firsthand, it’s near impossible to predict when and how hard a storm will hit, and then the critical decision of closing, delaying, or shutting school down early has to be made.
The final decision comes from the school superintendent in collaboration with an administrative team, transportation personnel, plowing and public works from area townships, as well as the most recent Accuweather alerts. All the information is processed and then weighed against the most important factor in the equation, which is the safety of our children. The goal is to provide our families, students, and staff with continuity in the educational process without putting anyone in danger.
