KAHS students exhibit at Region 5A

Wednesday, May 1, New London Spicer hosted the 12th Annual Minnesota State High School League Region 5A Visual
W-art contestArts Festival. Kimball Area High School took a team of six students to participate: seniors Malina Röttgermann, Kyleigh Eisenbraun, Alissa Jones, Hannah Zipoy, Ashley Angier and sophomore Josh Miller. In Drawing, Kyleigh Eisenbraun and Hannah Zipoy each earned a State Superior rating. In Mixed Media, Hannah Zipoy and Alissa Jones earned State Excellents.

The team sent 3 sculptures; Ashley Angier and Josh Miller’s earning State Superiors and Malina’s earning a State Excellent. In Painting, Alissa’s piece earned a State Excellent. The team explored the artist community of New London, visiting three different local artists and their galleries. First, they viewed the paintings, sculptures, pottery, and jewelry at New London’s Kaleidoscope Art Gallery. Next, they visited Bill Gossman, town mayor and accomplished potter, and his studio.

Their last stop was graphic designer Kristin Allen’s Greenwater Garage and Gallery. Everyone enjoyed seeing her creatively renovated studio and gallery. At the end of the day, a good time was had by all.
