KES Student Government going strong

Kimball Elementary School is proud to announce the Student Government members for the 2013-2014 school year. The sixth graders include Bailee Schiefelbein, Tori Harren, Justice Boyer, and Brian Binsfeld. The new fifth-graders include Andrea Jendro, Natalee Kunkel, Alex Nelson, and Naomi Bollman. The student government members are the role models of the school and are students who will do their best academically.

W-KES-Student-Government-283The group organizes special fund raisers to raise money for local organizations, the school, and global areas as well. In the past we have held hat days, and dress-up contests, sold pencil supplies, and also tallied Gohmann’s receipts to earn “free” equipment for KES. Last year, we counted more than $190,000 in receipts, and earned a great deal of school items for KES. We also hold a big food drive in the spring, and all food items are donated to the Kimball Area Food Shelf. This year we will also be working with the Kimball Area High School Student Government to raise money for Kids Against Hunger.

Tuesday, Oct. 8, the student government traveled to the Xcel Center to participate in WE Day MN, a “special rally for students to celebrate the power of youth to create positive change for local and global communities. It’s a special day designated to teach students how to turn inspiration into action.” Check it out online at www.weday.com.

We look forward to another successful year as representatives for Kimball Elementary School. We are excited to get started on helping our school and our community.
