In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners are recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Dairy Queen gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to Annandale’s Dairy Queen and the Kimball Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for September 2013:
Grade 7–Cole Gasper
Cole is always prepared for class – and arrives with a smile. He participates well during class and makes meaningful connections to previous content and real life. Cole has a positive attitude and works well with all of his classmates. For all of these reasons, we know Cole will be successful in high school and is very deserving of student of the month.
Grade 8–Adrienne Rainer
Adrienne Rainer has been selected as the eighth grade student of the month for September. Adrienne is a hard-working student who is not satisfied with average work. She takes pride in her work and performs above and beyond most expectations. She is also mature beyond her years and will not allow any adversity to stand in the way of her success. Her love of knowledge makes Adrienne the quintessential choice for student of the month honors.
Grade 9–Maicy Vossen
Maicy Vossen has been selected because of her integrity, ability to self advocate and positivity in classroom learning. She has worked very hard to be a cooperative learner and has shown a real dedication to her academic success. Maicy understands the importance of providing effort that can enhance her studying techniques to excel in all academic areas. Her work ethic, organizational skills and dedication of being the best she can be, makes Maicy a fine choice for this honor.
Grade 10–Jarod Olson
Jarod Olson is the 10th-grade student of the month. Jarod is a wonderful student to have in class. He is accountable for his work and is very responsible. He is helpful and respectful towards other students, while being a positive addition to all of his classes.
Grade 11–Brittany Wittrock
Starting off the year on a strong note is Brittany Wittrock! She has been nominated as September’s Student of the Month for the junior class. Brittany has developed into a fine young lady. She is cooperative yet assertive with her group mates, a hard worker in any classroom, an advocate for her own learning, and great with numbers. Brittany is also dependable to get the job done. It is with great pleasure that Brittany has been selected. Kudos to Brittany for being a good example to younger KHS students in showcasing her talents and work ethic.
Grade 12–Marisa Johnson
Marisa is off to a great start for her senior year. Her leadership in planning Homecoming as well as her helpfulness at every turn has been greatly appreciated. Her positive attitude and responsible nature have been refreshing. The teachers recognize a concerted effort on her part to make the best of her senior year. We admire this and look forward to the rest of her senior year.
