In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners are recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Dairy Queen gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to Annandale’s Dairy Queen and the Kimball Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for December 2013:
Grade 7–Josiah Rowland Josiah Rowland was selected as the December student of the month. He is an inquisitive young man with an excitement for learning. Josiah sets high expectations for himself and works hard to reach them. Another attribute we appreciate about Josiah is that he is not afraid to advocate for his peers.

Grade 8–Heidi Hendrickson
Heidi Hendrickson is the eighth-grade student of the month. Heidi is an exemplar for school success; she follows the rules, pays attention in class, gets her work done in a timely manner, and studies for exams. She approaches school with an even tenor. Heidi’s consistent path has led to her recognition by her teachers in the eighth grade.
Grade 9–Mason Hennen
Mason Hennen has been selected because of his ability to be respectful to staff and students. He works very hard at preparing for academics and is very polite when asking questions or for extra help. Mason constantly is trying to work hard to maintain good grades. He is an excellent cooperative learner who works well with his classmates and has developed a strong work ethic for classroom assignments. Mason is a deserving student for this award.
Grade 10–Louis Wojcik
Louis has a lot to share with the class and impresses his peers with his knowledge. He is becoming more involved in after-school activities and volunteered his time to the football team. Teachers enjoy having Louis as a student and say he is an asset to their classes.
Grade 11–Josh Miller
Josh Miller has been selected as the 11th-grade Student of the Month for December 2013. Josh is a hard worker. He will take any task put in front of him and work at it until it is done, no matter how challenging. Because of his work ethic, Josh has improved his academics significantly. Josh is also respectful and polite to his teachers and his peers. He works well with other students, too. Most notable is Josh’s artistic accomplishments. He has worked hard to hone his talents and has gained recognition for the pieces he has created. Congratulations to Josh on this honor.
Grade 12–Tessa Mackereth
Tessa is a hardworking young woman who uses her time wisely in school. She pushes herself to make the most of her talents while taking advantage of academic opportunities to better herself as a student. She is friendly and positive. Teachers see her as a quiet leader with a bright smile and cheerful nature, making it a pleasure to work with her in the classroom.
