KAHS January 2014 Students of the Month

In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners are recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Dairy Queen gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to Annandale’s Dairy Queen and the Kimball Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for January 2014:

Grade 7–Casey Gohmann

Casey Gohmann was selected as the January student of the month. Casey is a polite and personable young man who will often offer a greeting as he walks past. Striving to be the best that he can be is another attribute we appreciate about Casey. He listens to instructions carefully and then works hard to follow them.

The eighth-grade teachers have selected Jessica Combs as the January student of the month. Jessica is confident and self-
reliant; these traits allow her to succeed and lead by example in the classroom. Jessica lights a room with her smile and unmatched mirth. It is our pleasure to teach and to name Jessica as student of the month.

Grade 9–Scott Laudenbach

Scott has been named student of the month by the ninth-grade team because of his continued engagement in our courses, his curiosity to learn, and his leadership in the classroom. Scott’s energy and enthusiasm make the job of teaching a lot of fun. He is focused on his goals, and he gives his best effort in core classes. Continue your great efforts, Scott.

Grade 10–Jacob Borman

Jacob is a great example of an all-around student. He is able to balance his athletic and academic demands by being responsible with his assignments and his time management. His attitude in class includes a good sense of humor, while being respectful to both teachers and other classmates. He is very pleasant and brings positive energy into the classroom.

Grade 11–Delaine Zongo

Delaine Zongo has been nominated as the Junior Student of the Month for January. Delaine’s teachers have appreciated her comittment to excellence. She works hard in class, pays attention to instruction, and asks questions to further her understanding of the subject material. She is delightful in class discussion, thoughtful in her writing, and respectful to her teachers and peers. Congratulations to Delaine on this honor.

Grade 12–Mitchell Klein

One of the pleasures in a small school is having the opportunity to teach students more than one year and to be able to recognize how much a student can change over the course of a few years. Mitchell Klein is one of those students who stands out in the minds of the twelfth-grade teachers. As a senior, Mitchell is engaged in his education and driven to succeed. He is entirely focused on his goal to be successful in college and in his chosen career field. He is preparing himself by asking great questions and making smart choices. Continue the exceptional efforts, Mitch!
