April 2014 Students of the Month

In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners are recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Dairy Queen gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to the Kimball Chamber of Commerce and a private donor for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for April 2014:

Grade 7 – Jenna Lund

Jenna shows her creative spirit by having a story, joke or random tidbit to share. However, she is also rational by knowing the appropriate time to share so as not to disrupt the class. Jenna works to the best of her ability and then accepts the grade she earns. Working with a variety of her peers and willingness to help other students are two more reasons Jenna was chosen as student of the month.

Grade 8 – Tanner Hendrickson

Tanner Hendrickson has been selected as the eighth-grade Student of the Month for April. Many people describe Tanner as a very quiet young man; however, when Tanner does talk, his peers listen. He is also known for being a hard working student that always gives 100 percent. Tanner is not afraid to ask questions or seek help when he needs it. Therefore, the eighth-grade team is proud to nominate this very polite, genuine, and responsible individual for this month’s Student of the Month honors.

Grade 9 – Billy Tadych

Billy Tadych has been selected for his ability to problem solve at a high level and persevere through academic hurdles. He works at being respectful to staff, setting his priorities high when it comes to classes and striving to improve each day. Billy can see new challenges as a student and is focused on learning cooperatively with his classmates. He is results-oriented, shows the uncanny ability to ask the right questions and helps to create a positive atmosphere for each of his classes. These characteristics are examples of why Billy is a deserving student for this award.

Grade 10 – Abbey Straley

Abbey Straley is our pick for student of the month. Abbey is a very focused student who offers insightful answers. She is always very polite and helpful to teachers and students alike. She is a positive addition to the classroom because she always comes to class with a smile.

Grade 11 – Jarred Merchant

Jarred Merchant has been chosen as the April Student of the Month for the junior class. Jarred has “stepped up his game” in so many ways. In the classroom, Jarred has taken initiative to invest his time and energy into his studies. He comes to class well prepared, contributing his insightful ideas to whole classroom discussion and small group activities. He has produced quality in his projects, which others, even outside of the community, have taken interest in. Furthermore, Jarred’s leadership and positive attitude have been refreshing. In the “home stretch,” rather than sliding, it appears Jarred continues to gain momentum. Congratulations to Jarred Merchant on his accomplishments.

Grade 12 – Ariel Rossman

Ariel Rossman stands out as a student who is exceptionally adept at making transitions. New to Kimball High School this year, she immersed herself in her classes and found her place as a Cub. She has continued to pursue her academics with focus and ambition. She is a motivator, encouraging friends struggling with their “senior slides” to stay the course over the last few months. She is committed to doing what is right and in the best interests of her education. She is considerate and gracious, an exceptional friend. For these reasons and more, we thank Ariel for being an outstanding member of the class of 2014.
