South Haven Days July 26

 

Come and celebrate South Haven Days with us Saturday,
July 26. Why not attend the parade at 11 a.m., and then walk over to Zion United Methodist Church, for the car show and family activities.SH parade - RGB

There will be a lunch stand available outside, plus, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. you’ll be able to have dessert of pie and Ice Cream inside sponsored by Zion United Methodist Church. There will also be whole pies for sale along with other baked goods.

The children’s games  will be from 11:15 a.m.-12 noon, everyone’s a winner and every child receives a prize.

Dazzling Dave Yo-Yo Master will entertain the whole family starting at 12 noon on the west side of the church on the grass, in case of rain it’ll move inside.

July 18-20: Pickin’ in the Park is for all ages

Minnesota Pioneer Park in Annandale invites everyone to “Pickin’ in the Big Woods” First Annual Pickers Festival July 18, 19, 20, 2014. This is an acoustic Pickers Festival for all ages and all abilities. There is no admission for Pickers, and $6 for those who just come to watch and listen. There is primitive camping available for $10 per night (No Hook ups) Porta Potties on site. Open Mic Stage for those who want to practice their skills and stage presences. Your hosts will be Earl Jarosh and Ron Blade from MBOTMA along with Tom Schuveiller and Denny O’Brien from INSIDE BLUEGRASS “The Radio Show”. They will be broadcasting live Saturday morning. Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Festival returns

 

El Rancho Mañana Campground‎ in Richmond, Minn., Aug. 7-10

Nominated three times as Event of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association, the Festival offers music and activities for the whole family, including concerts by national and regional bands, demonstrations and hands-on workshops, contests, crafts, games, and special stage shows for children.

The Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Festival provides an inexpensive daytrip or weekend just 85 miles from the Twin Cities. Nominated three times as Event of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association, it offers music and activities for the whole family: more than 30 hours of concerts by national and regional bands, including Russell Moore (IBMA’s most-awarded male vocalist) & IIIrd Tyme Out, and Grammy-nominated The Boxcars, more than 20 hours of demonstrations and hands-on workshops, and old-time dances. Kids will enjoy more than 20 hours of activities, including contests, crafts, games, and special stage shows. Many attendees bring instruments for around-the-clock jamming, both organized and impromptu.

Red Cross Bloodmobile in Kimball July 30

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Kimball, Wednesday, July 30. The Bloodmobile is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary and will be held at the Kimball American Legion Club rooms located on South Main Street from 12 noon until 6 p.m.

Summer donations are always down. If you could find just an hour to donate blood in the Kimball Community, it would be greatly appreciated. Your blood donation could save a life.

D-C Theatre’s production ‘Les Misérables’ opens July 19


Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, “Les Misérables” is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. The world’s longest running musical sweeps audiences through an epic tale of broken dreams, passion and redemption, against the backdrop of a nation seething with revolution. The magnificent score of “Les Misérables” includes the classic songs I Dreamed a Dream, One Day More, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, Do You Hear the People Sing? and many more!

Six performances are scheduled over two weekends: Saturday, July 19 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, July 20 at 2 p.m.; Thursday, July 24 at 7 p.m.; Friday, July 25 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 26 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, July 27
at 2 p.m. Performances will be held in the air conditioned, 800-seat, Dassel-Cokato Performing Arts Center located at the D-C High School.

Reserved seat tickets are $7 for youth (18 and under) and $15 for adults. Tickets may be purchased online at www.dc.k12.mn.us/pac, or in person or by phone through the Dassel-Cokato Community Education office at (320) 286-4120. Tickets will also be available at the door, beginning one hour prior to each performance.
