Advance tickets on sale for ‘Annie’

Reserved tickets for the EV-W spring musical “Annie” will be on sale Monday and Tuesday, April 21 and 22, and again the next Monday and Tuesday, April 28 and 29, at the EV-W High School by the main office from 6-8:30 p.m. They are also available for purchase one hour prior to the performances. This is the W-Annie-IMG 9850only way reserve tickets may be purchased.

Annie cast is a mix of newcomers, veterans

When the EV-W drama department decided to open auditions to community members for the upcoming spring musical Annie, director Vicki Meyer wasn’t sure what to expect. Now, six weeks into rehearsals, it’s safe to say she is pleased with the results.

Nine of the 58-member cast are adults with diverse theater backgrounds. Some come with an extensive theater background while others are making their stage debuts.

Foster grandmas celebrated at KES

KAHS speech team competes

 

Shelby Schiefelbein is not a stranger to public speaking. As a youth beef ambassador, 4-H and FFA member, and speech team member, she perhaps has W-Kimball-Speech-1509861 10152053248231188 2086449547 n-2more experience in public speaking than some elected officials. That experience paid off for her during the Section 5A Speech tournament Saturday, April 5, held at Melrose High School.

Shelby, a senior competing in Original Oratory, delivered her speech entitled “Too Much Proma” during the final round, competing against seven other speakers, including teammate and classmate McKenzie Libbesmeier. Her speech addresses the excessive costs and drama that has come to be associate with prom. Shelby’s scores earned her a third-place medal and a spot at the Class 5A State Speech tournament Saturday, April 12, at Blaine High School. This is Shelby’s first appearance in state competition for speech.

Kimball Feeding Countries

If you happened to stop by the Wirth Gym at Kimball Area High School last Tuesday, March 25, you would have heard loud W-IMG 2037music playing, and seen dozens of teams of kids and adults working hard together.

The day’s meal-packing event was the culmination of months of planning and fundraising.
