Friday night, Feb. 22, at the Howard Lake-W-W Lakers court was like the second coming of the showdown at O.K. Corral. Conference rivals Eden Valley-Watkins Lady Eagles and HL-W-W Lady Lakers met in a shoot-out for all the marbles, and the EV-W girls survived in an overtime thriller, 45-43. A rarity this year, the Lady Eagles were down five at the half, but tenacious defense and a lot of heart sealed the sweet-sixteenth straight victory for the EV-W bunch.
Finishing the regular season with an impeccable 14-0 record in the Central Minnesota Conference, the Lady Eagles look in earnest, to the playoffs, enjoying a 20-4 mark overall. Game box score summary: Missy Kummet 7; Courtney Dilley 10; Dani Nelson 10; Greta Stommes 8; Holly Schumacher 2; Mikayla Kummet 8.
