Looking to hand HL-W-W Lakers their fourth conference loss, the Eagles jumped on the hosts last Friday night, Oct. 4, and looked sharp. The Eden Valley-Watkins gridiron guys got a taste of the end zone early, but the main course would never materialize. Taking an early 7-6 first-quarter lead, the Eagles quickly saw their hopes diminish, as the Lakers scored three unanswered touchdowns, shutting the proverbial door and hanging a 27-7 victory shingle atop. Lakers’ Joe Aalid passed for 152 yards and crossed the goal line twice, on runs. Eagles’ quarterback Nick Pauly threw for 170 yards and connected with Jared Streit on two passes for 97.
Individual statistics: Rushing: Renner 8-35, Deshaun James 8-1, Nick Pauly 2-(-10); Passing: Pauly 9-21-2-170; Receiving: James 3-26, Jared Streit 2-97, Reese Jansen 1-28, Renner 4-19.
The Eagles host the Kimball Cubs next Friday, Oct. 11, in a Central Minnesota Conference clash.
