The EV-W wrestling squad competed at the Rockford Triangular Dual Meet Tuesday, Dec. 17. In a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde affair, the Eagles dominated the hometown Rockets, 46-27, and fell to the Pioneers of Pierz, 58-15. “Well, it’s always good to get a win, but our first match effort disappeared against Pierz. In order to get better, you have to take on the challenge, and some of our guys didn’t do that. Pierz is a great team and should do well this year, but like I have said before, we need to be more consistent,” Coach Dan Berg said. The match of the night was registered by 170-pound Luke Kuechle, winning in overtime against Pierz’s Jordon Goebel. “It was a gutsy performance to win that one, and that’s what we need – effort and the will to not quit,” Berg said.

We had some individuals come through and that’s what you need to win in duals. Next up is home in a quad with us, ACGC, B-B-E, and Osakis. This will be an action-packed night with all four teams in the same section battling it out. It should be a lot of fun!” Coach Berg said.
