EV-W wrestlers tough going in back-to-back days

The EV-W wrestlers were well tested recently, as they traveled to Minnewaska Friday, Jan. 31, and then hosted Kimball on Saturday, Feb. 1, in a makeup match from a prior postponement. The Eagles lost a tough-fought affair at Minnewaska, 39-27, and dropped the contest to Kimball, 54-23. In the Minnewaska match, W-EVW-Luke-Kuechle-wins-by-major-decision-over-Kimball-Devon-Kelley-Wrestling-Kim-EVW-2007forfeits abound, as out of the 14 weight classes represented, nine of them were decided by way of forfeit. Results: 106 pounds: Brad Dockendorf (EVW) won by forfeit; 113 pounds: Joe Weaver (MNWS) pinned Matt Schindler; 120 pounds: Spencer Winter (MNWS) pinned Troy Kelley; 126 pounds: Hunter Mathies (EVW) won by forfeit; 132 pounds: double forfeit; 138 pounds: Tyler Dockendorf (EVW) won by forfeit; 145 pounds: Marcelo Arredondo (MNWS) won by forfeit; 152 pounds: Weston Lardy (MNWS) pinned John Salzl; 160 pounds: Carter Phillipp (EVW) won by dec. Caleb Blaisdell 10-6; 170 pounds: Ryan Stottler (MNWS) won by dec. Luke Kuechle 5-4; 182 pounds: Grant Winter (EVW) won by forfeit; 195 pounds: Brad Jacobs (MNWS) won by forfeit; 220 pounds: double forfeit; 285 pounds: Kashawn Brown (MNWS) won by forfeit.

Saturday, Feb. 1, the Eagles matched up with the Kimball Cubs, in a rescheduled event from Jan. 7. Results: 113 pounds: Matt Schindler, won by dec.; 120 pounds: Troy Kelley, won by pin; 160 pounds: Cain Renner, won by dec.; 170 pounds: Grant Winter, won by pin; 182 pounds: Luke Kuechle, won by decision.
