Eagles’ fast-pitch girls take conference opener vs. Huskers

Playing back-to-back games last week, the Eagles continued their winning ways, overcoming Holdingford, 9-5, in the Tuesday, April 22, home opener. Trailing by a pair of runs through the fourth inning, Eden Valley-Watkins exploded for six big runs in the home half of the fifth. That would be enough to seal the win and first conference victory of the young season. “We did a very nice job hitting today, collecting 11 hits in 6 innings of work. Jamie pitched well again, scattering 6 hits over 7 innings for the second day in a row. After getting behind, we battled back with a big 6-run fifth-inning to secure our first conference win,” Coach Dave Dziengel said.

EV-W box score: Jamie Scherer, 2 for 4, run scored, RBI; Brook Stang, 2 for 4, 2 runs scored; Faith Forcier, 2 for 4, run scored; Mindy Forcier, 3 for 3, 2 runs scored, RBI; Kali Covert, 0 for 4, run scored; Breanna Stang, 0 for 3, run scored; Ashley Anderson, 2 for 4, run scored, 2 RBI; Monica Ruhland, 0 for 3; Sarah Pauly, 0 for 3.
