The Lady Eagles defuse the Rockets

Local fans witnessed a pre-Valentine’s Day massacre on the 

Feb. 12, as the Eden Valley-Watkins Lady Eagles captured another victory, beating the Rockford Rockets 42-26. The game was really never in doubt, as the Lady Eagles led by a dozen at the break, and glided to a 16-point final margin.

EV-W boys’ basketball team stops Rockford

The Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles boys made it three straight Tuesday night, Feb. 19, beating the Rockford Rockets 54-49. W-901-Mitchell-Lease-evw-vs-RockfordJumping out to a 10-point halftime advantage, the Eagles gave the friendly fanatics plenty to cheer about. “It was a great game. We were up 

10 at half, got into some foul trouble, and Rockford cut it to one,” said Coach Adam Langer. As has been the case lately, the Eagles persevered when the Rockets tightened up the deficit.

EV-W Lady Eagles win a thriller at HL-W-W

w-723-evw-girls-vs-HLWW-RGBFriday night, Feb. 22, at the Howard Lake-W-W Lakers court was like the second coming of the showdown at O.K. Corral. Conference rivals Eden Valley-Watkins Lady Eagles and HL-W-W Lady Lakers met in a shoot-out for all the marbles, and the EV-W girls survived in an overtime thriller, 45-43. A rarity this year, the Lady Eagles were down five at the half, but tenacious defense and a lot of heart sealed the sweet-sixteenth straight victory for the EV-W bunch.
