Cubs wrestling team’s first of year

Shown here is the 2012-2013 Cubs wrestling team with their first-place trophy from their first tournament of the year in Rush City Saturday, Dec. 1. Kimball’s four seniors – Schlueter, Konz, Hamer, and Wills, all placed first, as well as Blane Tschida and Quinten Berres. Payton and Skyler Schiefelbein placed third. Taking fourth place was Brady Mehr and Matt Donnay. On the podium with fifth place were Ted Zipoy and Troy Filzen. Team points: Alec Johnson made his debut wrestling. Markus Mehr was injured in his first match of the day and brought to a hospital. He received whiplash, but thank goodness, he should return in the near future. The Cubs took home the first-place team trophy with 215 points, beating out eight other teams; Luck, Wis., came in second with 151.5 team points.
