The 1-4 Kimball Cubs softballers arrived in Upsala Friday,
May 3, for a non-conference battle with the 3-1 Cardinals. Kimball got off to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning. But they didn’t stop there, as they added two in the second, and five more in the third. The Cardinals scored two runs in the fourth to cut the lead to 7. Kimball answered back with two runs in the fifth inning, and the Cubs never had less than a 9-run lead from that point on. Smashing out 4 doubles, the Cubs cruised to a 16-5 victory. Kimball’s Alexis Rose is credited with the win. She pitched 7 innings, faced 35 batters, allowed 7 hits, had 9 strike outs, and walked 6 batters.
Maria Prokott took the loss, pitching 4 innings, striking out 1, walking 7, and surrendering 9 runs.

3-for-3, scored 3 runs, had two walks, 3 stolen bases, and 1 RBI. Paige Ruehle was 2-for-4, with 2 stolen bases, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI. Breane Meierhofer was 2 for 4 with a double, 3 stolen bases, a sacrifice fly, and she drove in 3 RBI. Madison Libbesmeier was 2-for-4 with a double, scored 3 runs, stole 2 bases, and took a walk. Alexis Rose was 2-for-5, scored 1 run, stole 1 base and was hit by a pitch. Raelynn Callander was 1-for-1 with 2 runs scored, had 4 stolen bases, and walked 3 times. Lauren Libbesmeier and Shelby Schiefelbein had a hit each. Katelyn Lichte walked twice and was hit by a pitch.
