The Marty Mudcats went 3 and 0 at the state qualifying tournament held in Maple Lake Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14. The Mudcats had been seeded first and received a bye for the first round. They faced the team from Hutchinson in the second round of play on Saturday. After a tough first inning the team was down 3 to 0 but came back to win 4 to 3 in eight innings.
Their next game was Sunday morning v Maple Lake and the Mudats came away with a 9 to 6 win. For the championship the girls would again have to face the team from Maple Lake and it would be another close game with the Marty Mudcats coming out on top by a score of 3 to 2. They will now compete in the Minnesota ASA 14U Class B state tournament on July 20-21. They will finish their summer season at the NAFA National Tournament July 25 through 28 in Eden Prairie.
