Volleyball Cubs win 1, lose 1, in week 1

The Kimball Area Cubs volleyball team started the 2013 season with a split. Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Cubs won a thriller at Royalton, 3-2. The match scores were 25-16, 25-14, 18-25, 16-25, 18-16. Macey Hurrle led W-352-Cubs-vs-RoyaltonKimball with 13 kills in the non-conference matchup.

Continuing on the road, the Cubs invaded Belgrade on Thursday, Sept. 5, and ran into a worthy opponent, dropping the contest, 3-0; 25-10, 25-22, and 25-12. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa’s Becca Gruber had 13 kills as the Jaguars handed the Cubs the Central Minnesota Conference loss. “It was a fun matchup versus a tough opponent, and we are a better team for the good competition,” Kimball coach Scott Heinen said.
