Home cooking was just what the Kimball Cubs volleyball team needed last week, as they hosted two and won two. Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Cubs invited Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted into their den for a conference battle. Winning in shutout fashion, the Kimball girls prevailed; 29-27, 25-17, and 25-16. The Hurrles were hoppin’ as Madison had 14 kills and Macey slammed down 11 for the victorious Cubs. Hollie Donnay shined with 28 set/assists. Cubs’ coach Scott Heinen is pleased with the progress. “We had a fun match at home in front of a fun crowd. A three-game win vs. a conference opponent was a good step in the direction we are striving to achieve in our efforts to be playing our best volleyball late in the season.”

Senior setter Hollie Donnay, reliable as an Eveready battery, put up 27 set assists. Heinen is most appreciative of the total support displayed. “We are excited to be playing team-based volleyball in a smart, strategic style. Showing a great tribute to breast cancer awareness, the crowd and students were very supportive.
