The Kimball Area Lady Cubs lost to EV-W at home on Friday, Dec. 20, 41-24. Greta Stommes scored 17, and teammate Elaina Stommes added 10 points for the Eagles, who owned a 20-11 halftime lead and would never relinquish it. Kimball Box score: Taylor Schreiner 6 points, Hannah Serbus 4 points, Tina Kastanek 5 points, Maddy O’Brien 6 points, Caitlin O’Brien 2 points, Becky Holtz 1 point. Kimball was 7/22 on two-point field goals, 1/10 on three-point field goals, and 7/14 from the free throw line. EV-W was 12/37 on two-point field goals, 1/7 on three-point field goals, and 14/19 from the charity stripe. Cubs’ Coach Jeremy Kuechle sums it up. “We did not handle the defensive pressure applied by the
Eagles well enough to work for quality shot attempts. The Eagles out rebounded us 2:1, giving them more second-chance opportunities at the rim. We had 20 turnovers, while EV-W committed 17.” The Cubs’ record drops to 1-5 while EV-W moves to 4-1. Kimball closes 2013 when they visit Upsala for a holiday tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27-28.
