Kimball girls escape victorious in thriller at Collegeville

Guild Hall in Collegeville was silenced suddenly Friday, Jan. 3, when St. John’s Prep’s Ellen Arnold fired up a 3-pointer in the waning seconds of a non-conference contest with the Kimball Cubs; only to see it rim out and see the Cubs slip out with a 41-39 victory. The game was a well-played, exciting ordeal, which the Johnnies’ 19-18 halftime advantage can attest. Kimball reclaimed the lead when Nicole Vossen hit a 3-point bucket to begin the second half. The Cubs built their lead to 27-19, before St. John’s finally scored seven minutes into the second half. The Johnnies fought back and eventually took the lead 37-36 with 3:05 to play.
