The Kimball girls started the week at home Monday, Feb. 3, hosting Eden Valley-Watkins; and ended the week playing at Holdingford, Friday, Feb. 7. The Cubs lost to the Eagles, 55-31 and came out on the losing end to Holdingford, 61-41. Hannah Serbus led the Cubs with 11 points. Kimball now stands at 0-9 in the conference and 3-15 overall.
In the game’s first five minutes, Kimball jumped out to a 13-4 lead, sparked by some steals on defense and two 3-
point baskets by junior guard Hannah Serbus, and one by sophomore guard Taylor Schreiner. Following a Holdingford timeout, the Huskers’ senior guard, Joelle Ertl, began to bring her team back, as she led a charge that erased Kimball’s lead and put the Huskers on top, 35-23, by halftime. In the second half, Ertl continued to dominate as she would score a game-high 30 points as Holdingford pulled away in the second half. Game scoring: Madison Libbesmeier, 2; Taylor Schreiner, 5; Hannah Serbus, 11; Madison Hurrle, 3; Abbey Straley, 2; Madelyn O’Brien, 6; Nicole Vossen, 1; Caitlyn O’Brien, 2; Becky Holtz, 9.
