The 13th annual Kimball Basketball Alumni Tournament showcased a close championship game between the 1998-2001 team and the 2006-2007 team. The 2006-2007 team came into the contest as the defending champions and took a commanding 10-point lead early in the championship game. By hafltime, the lead was trimmed to a 4-point margin. In the second half, from the class of 1999 Justin Schmitz came off the bench to hit 4 consecutive 3-point baskets, and one of them he was even fouled and converted a 4-point play. With Schmitz (MVP of the championship game) saving his best for the final game, gave the 98-01 team a lead they would not relinquish and would etch their name in history on the “S.O.B. Bar and Grill”-sponsored championship trophy. In the third-place game, the 2008-2010 team defeated team 2004.
While the consolation champions were team 1990-1996 defeating team 2003-2005. The Kimball Express Baseball Assocation and Kimball Area High School girls’ and boys’ basketball teams would like to thank all the participants and fans that took part in this succesful event.
