The Clippers lost a 13-12 squeaker Sunday at home, in a good Central Valley League showdown with the Cold Spring Rockies. Behind a second-inning grand-slam home run by the Rockies, designated hitter Kirby TeBrake, the Cold Springers rallied for 6 total runs to finish the frame with a 6-0 commanding lead. But despite Watkins’ 8 fielding mishaps, they still managed 10 runs in the ensuing 3 innings. The Rockies answered with 4 more runs and held a 13-10 advantage heading into the bottom of the ninth. After rallying for 2 more runs in the ninth, the Rockies’ defense stiffened and quashed the Clippers’ hopes, sealing the 13-12 victory.
