Tuesday, Oct. 1, the COL girls soccer team traveled to Glenwood to again face off against Minnewaska, with 4-1 victory over Minnewaska
Despite allowing a goal in the first minute, COL took control of the game early and never let up. COL would tie the game on a penalty kick after Katelyn Parsons (ROCORI) was fouled in the penalty area. The goalie stopped Alexandra Stahlberg’s (ROCORI) first penalty kick, but the goalie had moved off of her line too early. This then gave Stahlberg a second chance at the penalty kick, which then found the back of the net at the five-minute mark. COL would keep up the high pressure and score again on a goal by Kally Danzl (ROCORI) with an assist by Parsons to go on top 2-1 at the 24 minute mark of the first half. COL would close out the scoring in the first half as Stahlberg sent a long lofted 45 yard ball into the box that bounced in front of the Minnewaska keeper, who was unable to redirect it, and into the net at the 29 minute mark. The girls went into halftime with a 3-1 lead. Parsons scored the final goal at the 1 minute mark of the second half with an assist from Mikayla Timm (ROCORI). 4-1 would be the final score.
