Visiting the Koronis Civic Arena in Paynesville, the Stars just couldn’t get their skates moving, and saw the Storm outshoot them by a convincing 55-23. The Holtz brothers competed in wrestling at Rumble on the Red in Fargo, N.D. Sunday, Dec. 29.
Carter clenched first place with 2 pins both in the first period.
Zackary was able to wrestle for the Team of Blaine on Saturday and went 4-0 with 3 pins. Sunday he took second place with 1 pin and tech fall 17-1.

The Watkins Sportsmen’s Club and the Watkins Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring the 26th annual ice-fishing contest 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Clear lake in Watkins. The entry fee is $30 ($25 for raffle, $5 for fishing).
The super prize is a Polaris 500 Sportsmans 4X4; grand prize is $2,000 cash; first prize is $1,000 cash.
There will be more than $17,000 in prizes.
Competition is in four divisions: Bluegill, Crappie, Northern, and Walleye & Bass.
Limited to the first 1,000 tickets sold; buy tickets early. Last year was sold out.
Bring your own bait. Fish must be alive and fresh. Two lines per ticket. Decision of judges is final. State Game and Fish Laws apply. No lines, depth finders or cameras in water until 1 p.m. No alcohol on the ice.

The River Lakes boys’ hockey team visited the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud Friday, Dec. 27, and Saturday, Dec. 28; for matchups with Monticello/Annandale-Maple Lake and St. Cloud Cathedral, respectively. MAML overpowered River Lakes, 8-3 and the Crusaders of Cathedral pounded the Stars, 8-1.
Monticello outshot the Stars by a 49-26 tally and St. Cloud Cathedral had 48 shots on goal to River Lakes’ 25.
